Flies and Eyes, oh and Ants!

Been a while since I posted, due to other commitments – but now for some catch up posts over the next few days/weeks.  The macro photos taken here were shot back on the 19th May!

It’s a collection of flies ( including sawflies and damselflies).

First up this red fly that I almost managed to get in flight on my Canon MPE-65mm 1-5x macro lens.

I got better detail at a bigger magnification – when it posed briefly on leaf.

Next up a pair of Sawflies mating.

This dancefly seems to have damaged wings.  Either that or they are not fully inflated ?

Then some of my favourite macro subjects – damselflies up close and personal!  I love the detail in their eyes, and the poses they can assume.  Firstly a common blue.

Then a selection of this nicely posing Azure.
