Things with Wings

Here’s a selection of macro images of things with wings.  Finally I managed to see and photograph some damselflies and a butterfly last weekend at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve.

This is the butterfly, a Red Admiral.  Firstly from a short distance using the Canon 100mm macro lens.

And up close and personal using the Canon 65mm MPE Lens @ 1:1

The damselflies are just starting to appear there – with small numbers of Azure and Blue-tails about.  Here are shots of the two species.

I was also fortunate to get an Azure close up on a stem on my Canon MPE-65mm lens at around 2x magnification.

First with no background card.

Then with a purple card in the background.

This last one, I took in landscape orientation and then used Photoshop to crop it to a portrait (5:7)
