Disco Drops

I have recently been playing with my StopShot and water drops, and having got a working drop ( by getting the correct water / xanthan gum mixture for the water syphon sorted out – I used about 1/4 gum mixture to 3/4 water) decided to have a play with a cd in the background.  I have to say it is not an original idea as have been reading Corrie Whites e-book for ideas and guidance on drop photography.

I am pleased with the results of my first go with my new permanant setup – I built this wooden structure shown on the cognisys website for my drops ( I only have one dropper though ).  The shots were lit by pointing two Canon 580ex Speedlights at the cd in the background.  The timing of the shot and size of the drops are controlled by the stopshot machine.  The shots were taken with my Canon 100mm Macro Lens and Canon 760d.

Here are my best results from this session – which I am calling the Disco Collection ?

The first shows a drop colliding with the shootup from a previous shot – right at the peak of its hieght.

Whilst others show the drop collision at different times – the stopshot allows the shot to be taken at different timings down to .005 of a second in difference.

This one is a bit of a collision that is slightly of centre.
