Froglet

This set of shots of a newly emerged Common Frog, were taken indoors.  I have a splash tank, containing some tadpoles (from spawn) from a garden pond.

This serves two purposes.

  1. Some of the tadpoles make it to frogs – rather than get eaten by the resident fish.
  2. I can take photos of the frogs etc.

The froglet – it still has its tail was taken out of the tank, with the rock it was on.  I placed the rock on a whitebox – which in turn was inside a light tent.  I had two flashes outside of the tent (diffused again) – a Canon 580ex and Canon 430ex for lighting.

I had the 760d with my Canon 100mm macro lens, on a tripod and velbon macro rail, with a Canon ST-E2 on it to trigget the slave flashes.

These first two images are cropped slightly to enlarge and improve the composition slightly.

On this following shot, I had a play with Topaz Restyle – to add a look of sunset to the shot.

Finally these two images are of the froglet, when it crawled on the board.  Both a cropped a bit to make the horizon level.  The first is also cropped a lot ( on my original from 6000 pixels to 4254 on the longest side)  to make the froglet larger in the frame.  It also served to confirm to me that the 760D gives good detail close in.   The noise is also looking much better than my previous 650D Camera. 🙂

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
