Kingcombe Meadows

A mid June visit to the DWT reserve Kingcombe Meadows in Dorset, saw me shooting various flowers in the meadows, which were in full summer flower.  In addition to the flowers, there was a large number of Meadow Brown butterflies about, and an annoyingly large number of horseflies too.

This first image from the visit is of the more pleasant of the aforementioned insects the Meadow Brown.  I was pleased to get it in action as they were fairly busily flying about, the only thing that slightly subtracts from the photo is the grass stalk going through the flower the butterfly is on.

The other flying insect that I managed to photograph was this Burnett Moth.

As I mentioned the flowers were out in the meadows and I took a portrait and close up of the flowerhead of this Knapweed.

Finally I took this purple Orchid, with a blurred buttercup in the background to create a sun like blur effect in the backgroud.

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
