Martins Down

Took a trip to Martins Down in Hampshire on the 11th June.  (Am almost up to date now with my shots – blame a holiday in Scotland for the lack of up to dateness).

A fairly windy and occasionally wet day, meant that the butterflies were not active for most of the day.  So failing finding them early on I shot some wild flowers on my tripod.  My favourite three follow.

In fact the butterflies were so cold the first one I came across, crawled onto my finger when trying to move an interfering bit of grass.  Not the best shot as I had to shoot with the ISO still at ISO 100 – One handed at 1/50th second is not easy.

A better shot of a small heath follows, taken on a tripod in the late afternoon sun.  Some other butterflies, were about including some Adonis Blues, however I failed to get a shot of an untattered one to post.

Chris

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
