First Play with Sound Trigger.

I have recently been building some triggers from HiViz.com for use in macro photography.  I had an initial first play with a sound trigger tonight, trying to capture some dancing milk on a speaker.

I only got one half decent shot, some more work is required on the setup.  I think some water based paint may work better, and hope to try it soon.  The setup is fairly simple it’s a cut off balloon stretched over a small computer speaker, with a drop of milk placed on it.  Set the focus and turn down the lights.  Then set off a sound that will cause the drops to vibrate – the sound trigger fires a flash that freezes the action.  I set the flash to 1/32nd power to get a short duration, but maybe some more light (another flash unit) would help get it sharper.  The camera with the 100mm lens on was set to F14 – ISO 100 – 1 Sec manual shutter.  I also feel that adding a delay trigger may help.  I have a setup for that and will experiment again soon, as this shot can definitely be improved on.   A lot in fact!
