Shooting Shrooms.

Visited Higher Hyde Heath a Dorset Wildlife Trust reserve near Bere Regis in Dorset this afternoon.  Went to take some fungi and any dragonflies if they were about.  Due to the coldish weather there were no dragonflies to be found but there was a great display of fungi, including lots of fly agarics (Amanita muscaria).

I took a normal portrait close up shot on my Canon 17-40mm USM L Lens up close to one of the fungi, and to get some light under it used a reflector to bounce some light up under it.  (A seperate technique post shows how this is done).

I also had an experiment with some abstract shots of the fly agarics – and of the ones I took the one below is my personal favourite from the day.

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
