Butterflies and Moths at Troublefield

I visited Troublefield a nearby Dorset Wildlife Trust Reserve on Sunday afternoon.  This is a tiny reserve not too much bigger than a small field but it was full of summerflowers and butterflies.

Armed with my Canon 100mm F2.8 USM macro lens I managed to find a nice male Fox Moth (Macrothylacia rubi ) in the grass, and also capture a pair of mating Small White butterflies.  In addition to these I also managed to get some shots of a couple of the many Common Blue butterflies that were about.  Lastly and on my Canon MPE-65mm I photographed an type of shield bug that I had not seen before a “Tortoise Bug” (Eurygaster testudinaria).

The shots are shown below.  I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did taking them.

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
