Beetles at Hod Hill

On Sunday I paid a brief afternoon visit to Stourpaine in Dorset.   On this occasion I did not walk over Hodd Hill itself, but just walked up a farm track/footpath that is part of a circular walk around the hill.

It was raining earlier in the day, and for a early May weekend quite cold.  As a result there were not many active bugs, apart from the usual collection of flies and beetles.  The best 3 shots I took were 2 of small beetles and one of a flower.

This shot of a small beetle walking across a leaf was taken at around 1x magnification on the MPE-65mm.

Another similar beetle posed nicely on this plant.  Just over 1x magnification, again on the MPE-65mm

Finally a nice pink flower, taken hand held in natural light only on my Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro USM lens.

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
