Ants in the Garden

Today, on a day off from work, I decided to explore the garden.  Not a lot of insects out there, but I spied some small black ants on some Cherry Tree logs.  So to get them to pause I baited the log with some small blobs of golden syrup.

Here’s the best of the shots from today.  Taken on MPE-65mm at 1x with flash except where stated.

Here you can see the ant slurping in the syrup.

The first of two shots, I decided to entitle “Soccer Ants” as they made me think they were playing footie.

The second soccer ant shooting…

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.
